First Aid as a Life Skill
On the 1st December 2010 Training Requirements for quality provision of unit standard-based first aid training were introduced. The document First Aid as a Life Skill: Requirements for Quality Provision of Unit Standard Based First Aid Courses was pubished in November 2010.The reason for their introduction came after lengthy consultaion processes following the identification of poor practices within the first aid training sector. NZQA also voiced concerns about practices both actual and perceived in the first aid training sector.
There was strong support for the introduction of these guidelines and agreement that "Section One: Framework outline" provides the minimum level of first aid knowledge all New Zealanders should possess" and that "Section Two: First aid training requirements" provide clear guidance for the quality provision of unit standard-based first aid courses".
